 Gizmo is one of the most easy going dogs we've ever met! His energy is contagious and he instantly captivates you with his charm and lovely demeanor! He’s a perfect mix of energetic and calm. He was one of our longest fosters but was recently adopted by a loving family who met him at the annual Race for the Rescues event at the Rose Bowl. We are so excited that he will be living out the rest of his life with an incredible and loving family. Happy tails little buddy!

Ella Sue was saved from the North Central Shelter in October 2018. She was in our rescue for quite a while as she waited for the perfect family to come into her life. She adores humans and just needed someone to give her some time to settle in and trust again. She was just adopted this November after spending some time with a wonderful family in San Bernardino, California. She will be spending the rest of her life cuddling with her amazing mom and dad.

Farrah is an adorable 11 year old who we took into our rescue last year at the Race for the Rescues event. She had been at a shelter for months prior to the event, and we couldn't imagine the thought of sending her back. We took her home with us that day and after spending some time in foster care, decided that we just couldn't live without her! We officially adopted her into our family and she will be living the rest of her life with us and our other six dogs in California.

Dusty Bottoms is one of the #upland8 dogs rescued from a horrific living situation. Him and 7 other dogs lived in a vacant home with no human interaction, access to the outside, or medical attention. He lived in his own urine and feces until Animal Control was called in to save him and the rest of the pups. Despite this horrific and heartbreaking situation, this amazing 9 year old fluff-ball LOVES being held and enjoys receiving attention from any human willing to give it. Dusty found his forever home with a loving couple in Southern California. 

Ruth is a 10 year, 8 lb, little old lady who came in to the Riverside shelter as a stray where she waited patiently for 2 months for someone to save her. After taking her to the vet, it was determined that she has calcified disc in her spinal cord and 2 inguinal hernias which are inoperable because they have entrapped the bowel. She was adopted by her foster family. Her amazing forever family has promised to do everything they can to ensure she is loved and cared for the rest of her time with us. 

Meet Soda Pop! Soda Pop is one of the #upland8 dogs rescued from a horrific living situation. He and 7 other dogs lived in a vacant home with no human interaction, access to the outside, or medical attention. He was covered in feces and urine when Animal Control was called in to take the pups. Despite what he has been through, this sweet senior loves being pet and getting affection. This 6 lb. pup is diabetic due to the lack of care he received in his previous home. He was adopted by a wonderful human and is now loving life in his furever home and is now getting the love and care he deserves.

We picked up Bambi at the South LA Shelter after she and another pup were dumped there by their previous owner. After a few weeks, her playmate was adopted and Bambi was left alone and scared. This one year old, six pound cutie caught our attention and, of course, we wanted to help. She is super sweet and gentle and has so much love to give. She found her happy ever after with her foster family who adopted her after realizing they couldn't live life without her!

Hi there! My name is Carmel and I'm an 8 year old Jack Russell terrier mix. I lived with the same family for my whole life but unfortunately they couldn't keep me anymore. I get along with everyone and it didn't take very long for HFFR to find me a furever home. I am so grateful for them! I am loving life with my fur sister Pooh Bear and my furever mom in Beaumont. Thanks HFFR and all the people who helped.

Hey there furiends! My name is Jack and I'm around 2 years old. A family bought me for their young son who didn't like dogs, so they left me outside to fend for myself without food or water. Luckily, a kind neighbor helped me out and gave me some care. They reached out to HFFR who came out to visit and wanted to help me! I am so grateful I was placed in an amazing foster home that day. My foster parents love me so much, they decided to adopt me and keep me furever! I am living in my furever home in California and still can't get enough tennis balls!

Ned the cutest little nugget is one of the #upland8 dogs rescued from a horrific living situation. Him and 7 other dogs lived in a vacant home with no human interaction, access to the outside, or medical attention. He was covered in feces/urine and had urine scalding on his paws when Animal Control was called in to take the pups. Despite what he has been through, this sweet 7 year old loves being pet and held like a baby. This 7 lb. pup has a heart murmur and is missing some teeth, but he doesn't let that stop him! His amazing foster mom fell in love with him the moment she met him and decided to adopt him! Yay! Happy tails little guy!

Harold is a handsome gentleman who is 10 years young and is still waiting to find his forever home. He loves people and will follow his human around everywhere! He’s got good energy (but not too energetic) and likes going on walks or prancing around the backyard! He’s ok with other dogs and is house trained. He reminds us of an old man who enjoys his time lounging in the recliner watching all of his favorite TV shows. He found is furever family and now lives in Michigan!

Sweet one year old Maggie was initially adopted by one of her previous fosters and then sadly returned to us. A foster family stepped in to help and ended up falling in love with her within a couple of weeks! They decided they couldn't wait any longer and adopted her. It was meant to be! She now resides in Southern California and spends her days playing with her sister Lulu and getting all the belly rubs from her furever family. Happy tails sweet girl!

Maybelle is the sweetest little girl. She's around 10 years old and is a poodle mix of some kind. She does not have teeth or lower jaw, but that doesn't keep her from having a big appetite! She is house trained and gets along with dogs and cats. She is on thyroid meds and receives daily eye drops to help her hypothyroid and vision. She loves exploring and her foster family adopted her! She will spend the rest of her days attached to their hips!

Jelly Bean was saved the day before she was set to be euthanized. She is blind, about 12 years old, has diabetes, and a grade 6/6 heart murmur. She has been doing well since being on the insulin and heart medication and is learning how to navigate herself around her fospice home. We aren’t sure how long we will have her so we plan to keep her at her fospice home where she can receive all of the love she deserves at this time in her life!

RIP Sweet Sam - 3 months old.

Sam was brought to HFFR after a kind soul picked her up off the street. Sam was skinny, covered and fleas, and looked to have an eye infection. After getting blood work done, we found out she had Leukemia. With a heavy heart, we made the decision to let her pass with peace and dignity. She was suffering and very sick. Although our time with her was shorter than we wanted, we are grateful to be able to provide her with love and care in her final days. Rest in Paradise sweet girl.

RIP Black Diamond. He was a 9 year old Cane Corso/ Pit mix with lots of spunk rescued from Downey Shelter on the day he was scheduled to be euthanized. His owners surrendered him because he was having a hard time walking. They didn't realize he was in a lot of pain due to a bulging disk in his lower spine. He was rescued and had back surgery and lived another two years! In April 2018 his health declined rapidly and he was ready to move on. He went to heaven in the comfort of his doggy bed at home. We all miss him a lot!

Venus was 13 years old and came in as a stray. She was blind and very quiet and sweet. She was a lap sitter but enjoys walking on her own and is pretty good at navigating. She had cancer and pyometra, severe dental disease, heavy tartar, opacity OU, a mammary mass, an abrasion on her left hip, and a tip of her ear is missing. She lived with a loving fospice family for 5 months before passing naturally on her own. She will be missed dearly by so many. 

We rescued the cutest 16 year old muppet named Ernie from Castaic shelter. He lived outside his entire life and when his owners dumped him at the shelter they said it was because he was "too old". We found it ironic that his owners were in their 80's and seniors too... #Karma. But what do they say? What's one mans trash is another mans treasure! ✨He had signs of doggy dementia but we thought we had more time with him. His health quickly declined over a week and left us for doggy heaven. It breaks our hearts that we didn't have much time with him but are grateful that we were able to take him in. We are also very grateful for his wonderful fospice family who showed him so much love.  RIP sweet boy. ❤️

RIP Beautiful Star - 13 years old.

We rescued Star from the shelter after she was picked up as a stray. Her previous family actually said they didn't want her. We were able to rescue her right before she was to be euthanized. She had a lot of trouble walking and after seeing the vet, we discovered masses on her liver and chest. Her health declined and after a week she lost the desire to eat, refused water and medication, and seemed to be uncomfortable and in pain. Always with her best interest at heart, we decided it was time to let her go. She spent her last week in an amazing foster home surrounded by lots of love and hugs.
